Jodi Melissa Slaughter has built her career around helping people recognize their potential and creating opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to thrive.
An accomplished counselor, educator, mentor, entrepreneur, and community leader, Jodi brings more than twenty years of experience working with children, families, and communities.
Her professional background has taught her how to listen carefully, bring people together, solve problems, and remain focused on outcomes.
Those experiences now inform her service on the Norfolk School Board.
A Commitment to Education
Jodi holds a B.S. in Psychology and Human Services, a Master’s in Counseling, and is pursuing a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership.
From Candidate to School Board Member
When Jodi first asked Ward 3 voters for their support, she promised to bring thoughtful, transparent, and student-centered leadership to the Norfolk School Board.
Voters gave her that opportunity.
Since taking office, she has worked to listen, learn, collaborate, and advocate for the needs of Norfolk's students and educators.
Serving has only reinforced her belief that meaningful progress requires consistency, collaboration, and leadership that keeps students at the center of every decision.

Jodi is seeking another term because Norfolk Public Schools continues to face important decisions about academic achievement, school facilities, teacher recruitment and retention, student safety, career preparation, family engagement and responsible use of public resources.
